Dr. Sara Coffey is the interim chair of the department of psychiatry and behavioral sciences at the Oklahoma State University Center for Health Sciences. Dr. Coffey completed her adult psychiatry residency at the University of Chicago and her child and adolescent psychiatry fellowship at the Cambridge Health Alliance, a Harvard Medical School Affiliate. During her adult psychiatry training, Dr. Coffey served as the chair of the Public Health Committee (residents’ section) for the American Medical Association. She served in her role as a public psychiatry fellow for the American Psychiatric Association for two years during her psychiatry training. In her child and adolescent psychiatry training, Dr. Coffey worked alongside her mentor, Dr. Katherine Grimes, in a collaborative care practice with pediatricians to help improve upon mental health care for children in the pediatric clinic. Dr. Coffey has experience consulting schools after a traumatic event following the Boston marathon bombings and has been published in the American Journal of Psychiatry’s Resident’s Journal with her work entitled, “Consultation to Schools after the Boston Marathon Bombings.” Dr. Coffey is has contracted with the Department of Mental Health to provide technical assistance in the implementation of Oklahoma Health Homes. In this line of work, Dr. Coffey served in her role as an expert in collaborative care models and best practices of integration and collaboration. . Dr. Coffey currently serves as a child and adolescent psychiatry consultant for the Department of Human Services, Division of Child Welfare. Dr. Coffey also serves as the behavioral health medical director for the Oklahoma State University (OSU) Health Access Network. Dr. Coffey is also the medical director for OKCAPMAP, Oklahoma's Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Access Program.
