Incorporating DEI training into behavioral health training is essential for creating a more inclusive and equitable health care system. DEI training can help mental health professionals identify and address systemic disparities in mental health care, centered on race, which can lead to better patient outcomes. By incorporating DEI training into their curricula, training programs will foster the development of skills and knowledge necessary to provide culturally competent care. This session will engage conversation and explore clinical paradigms to help unpack the challenges and potential solutions in this space.

Learning Objectives:

Review survey results from the MDI's DEI Subcommittee survery administered to a broad audience of learners, teachers and practitioners in the field of behavioral health.
Explore and unpack some of the challenges that foster resistance and impede progress in address race and DEI in clinical settings
Recommend tools and resources available for continuous quality improvement in this area of clinical impactfulness
