Local and state policymakers need data-driven tools to help inform strategic planning for opioid settlement fund decisions. Careful blending and braiding of existing funding streams, alongside consideration of where settlement funds can plug gaps in infrastructure, is required. This session will highlight the role of data in informing policymakers’ critical steps in determining community needs and present a suite of data tools developed by the Duke-Margolis Center for Health Policy and Third Horizon Strategies. Attendees will learn how to leverage the tools and best practices in working with communities to facilitate strategic planning and decision-making about opioid investments.
Learning Objectives:
Describe existing needs related to data-driven decision-making for opioid settlement funds.
Identify best practices regarding incorporation of other state and local data sources.
Demonstrate how to access and use the Duke-Margolis Opioid Abatement Needs and Investment Tool and other resources.
