Lavina Camacho serves as the Director of Clinical Services with WestCare Pacific Islands Inc. In this role, she provides clinical and programmatic leadership and oversight in the development of the youth and adult outpatient behavioral health and substance use treatment programs.
Born and raised on Guam and a CHamorro native, Lavina is passionate about bringing hope and healing to her island's people. A proud alumni of the University of Guam, she earned a Bachelors in Psychology and later obtained a Masters of Science from Capella University in Counseling Psychology. She has worked in the mental health field since 2004 in community mental health, public health, private practice, and non-profit settings.
In 2014, she became a License Professional Counselor (LPC) and Marriage & Family Therapist (MFT) and more recently obtained her certification as a Master Addiction Counselor. A major focus of her work is to increase access and standard of care of behavioral health and substance use services for vulnerable and underserved populations. Trained in various evidence-based practices and embedded in Guam's collective culture, Lavina's expertise expands to working with infants, children, and transition age youth who have experienced abuse and neglect, trauma, or been placed in shelters or foster care, adults experiencing mental health, substance use, or co-occuring disorders, individuals incarcerated or involved in the criminal justice system, veterans, and unhoused persons and their families.
Through her dedication to cultivate holistic mental health and substance use treatment on Guam, Lavina led efforts in program design that resulted in Guam's first Non-Profit Adult Behavioral Health and Substance Use Program to earn international accreditation for Outpatient and Intensive Outpatient Treatment with the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF).
Through her calling as both a clinician and program manager, Lavina continously strives to promote positive wellbeing for all those she serves and works alongside with.
