If your organization has started to hire peer workers (e.g., peer specialists, peer recovery specialists, community health workers) — or you’re looking to get more out of existing ones – this session is for you! we will explore the core elements of building an effective, peer support program — from assessing internal readiness to crafting policies and procedures that align with peer practice. We will focus on, strengths-based supervision of peer practice and strategies that will help you retain your peer workforce. Best of all, you will leave with proven tools and resources that you can immediately put into practice.

Learning Objectives:

Define the core philosophy, values and dimensions of recovery and how your organizatin fits into this recovery oriented system of care and a recovery rich community.
Define the core philosopies and values of peer practice and contrast and compare the roles of CPS, CPRSS and CHWS
Identify opportunities for and challenges to integrating peeer practitioners into existing systems
Identify key areas on which programs need to focus to prepare to successfully integrate peer practitioners
Clarify how policies and procedures impact peer work and identify which ones are due for a "refresh".
