TP3 - Use of Novel Psychoactive Substances Among Individuals Prescribed Buprenorphine

Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) adherence has historically been a strong indicator of success along a recovery journey. Many treatment facilities utilize medication monitoring in urine or oral fluid to confirm recent ingestion of buprenorphine and continued abstinence from non-prescribed drugs and illicit substances. Data analyzed from samples submitted to Aegis Sciences Corporation shows simultaneous buprenorphine adherence and concomitant NPS use, and at times, non-compliance with buprenorphine with use of NPS. The poster will share insights from this data and offer new perspectives for consideration when evaluating substance use monitoring test menus.
