This presentation will help Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) facilitators learn the benefits of providing resident assistants on college campuses with the opportunity to complete MHFA certification. This presentation will share how the MHFA program at Appalachian State University went from a passing thought to certifying nearly 200 staff members with direct impact and daily interactions with 6,000 residential students. The presenters will provide an overview of the research and best practices that led to the development of this collaborative training opportunity and share action items to help MHFA facilitators and coordinators feel confident navigating communication for working with this special population.
