Gordon Benson is Interim President of Community Healthlink, the largest behavioral and mental health services agency in central Massachusetts, and an entity in the UMass Memorial Health (UMMH) system. Community Healthlink operates more then 60 programs and provides services to more than 22,000 people each year.
In addition to leading Community Healthlink, Gordon is an adjunct faculty member at Fitchburg State University, where he teaches Graduate-level classes on Professional Practice in Mental Health Counseling.
Prior to becoming Interim President of Community Healthlink, Gordon served at Vice President for Adult Outpatient Services, where he had oversight for adult outpatient services, including the integration of primary and behavioral health care services, as well as specialized services for those with a severe and persistent mental illness, those with a substance use condition, and those with intellectual disabilities/developmental disabilities, including those with an autism spectrum disorder.
Before joining Community Healthlink, Gordon served as President and Chief Executive Officer of L.U.K. Crisis Center, Inc., in Fitchburg, Massachusetts, where he had oversight of all personnel and program management and administration.
Gordon also has spent time as a clinical psychologist, family therapist, clinical supervisor, clinical director, and has served on a variety of Boards of Directors and as a committee member for multiple civic organizations. He also was appointed by the Governor of Massachusetts to the Board of Allied Mental Health and Human Services Professionals, serving as a member and as Vice Chair.
He has Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) in Pastoral Psychology from Boston University. He has a Masters of Arts degree in Marriage, Family, and Child Counseling, from Santa Clara University, Santa Clara, California, and a Masters of Divinity degree from North Park Theological Seminary, Chicago, Illinois. He is licensed as a Clinical Psychologist and Health Care Provider and as a Marriage and Family Therapist.
He completed his undergraduate degree at North Park College, Chicago, Illinois.
Gordon resides in Bolton, Massachusetts, with his wife and is the proud father of 3 children and 2 grandchildren.
