Dr. Rosenzweig has more than 20 years of experience in the field of behavioral health and expertise in the treatment of mood disorders. Before joining Optum in 2000, Dr. Rosenzweig spent three years as the Medical Director of the Counseling Program of PA Hospital in Philadelphia, two years as the Director of the Adult Treatment Service, and four years as the Director of the Mood Disorders Program at the Institute of Pennsylvania Hospital. Certified in Psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, he earned his Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBCh) from the University of Witwatersrand Medical School in Johannesburg, South Africa. Dr. Rosenzweig, who continues as a practicing psychiatrist today, has been awarded a fellowship by the National Psychiatric Endowment Fund, and the J. Martin Myers Award for outstanding contribution to the PA Hospital. Dr. Rosenzweig has served as senior medical director for the Philadelphia Care Advocacy Center since 2001. In this role, he has overseen the clinical operation of many large national customers. For the last 3 years, he has been architect of the Optum response to the growing opioid epidemic and helps to coordinate operational, network and affordability efforts to address the trend, including development of a specialty Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) network. He also is a voting member of the United Healthcare Pharmacy & Therapeutics Committee and represents the behavioral perspective on medications.
