Terri Shavers, MSW, LSW is the CCBHC Manager at Community Support Services, Inc. In Akron Ohio. Terri has been with the organization for over 28 years and has experience as a Case Manager, Habilitation Specialist, Clinical Supervisor and currently Manager. Terri takes pride in improving services for clients and empowering staff to develop and advance. Terri has mentored numerous social work students over the years, helping them utilize social work skills in practice. Terri worked in the Forensic Department for the past 11 years supervising staff working with clients in the Criminal Justice System including Mental Health Courts at the Municipal level and clients found Not Guilty by Reason of Insanity or Incompetent to Stand Trial at the Felony level. Terri is a REP (Recovery Enhancement Practices for Psychosis) Trainer for staff and is also trained in Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Trauma Informed Care. Terri earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Individual and Family Studies at Kent State University and her Master of Social Work Degree from the University of Akron. Terri is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.-Akron Alumnae Chapter. Terri was awarded the Bishiop T.W. Drone Memorial Award and recognized by the Ohio Black Women’s Leadership Caucus at their annual Salute to Women and Scholarship Luncheon. Terri is the Co-President of Women of Destiny (at her church) and Co-Chair of the JEDI (Justice, Equity, Diversity & Inclusion) Committee (at Community Support Services). Terri also volunteers at her church Food Bank and with YEPAW (Youth Excellence Performing Arts Workshop).
