Dr. De'Andre S. Pickett is a dedicated professional with a passion for serving families and children in the state of Georgia, particularly in the Metro Atlanta communities. With over 17 years of experience, De'Andre has made significant contributions in various educational and community roles.
Originally from Springdale, Ohio, De'Andre moved to Atlanta to pursue his studies at Morehouse College. He graduated with a degree in English, Sociology, and minored in African American Studies. During his time in college, De'Andre was selected by the Israeli Government as the first African American intern at the Consulate General of Israel to the Southeast. In this role, he played a crucial part in diversity and inclusion conversations, including the racial relations summit in 2009.
Since 2006, De'Andre has held several educational positions, ranging from Educational Specialist and as the Dean of Student and Academic Affairs . He also served as the Associate Program Director for Givingpoint, a non-profit organization focused on cultivating civic engagement and empowering young people. With his extensive experience in education and community relationship building,
De'Andre's commitment to community service extends beyond his professional roles. In 2013, he was appointed as a Commissioner to the City of East Point Parks and Recreation Advisory Commission. In 2015, he served as the Deputy Executive Director and Chief of Staff for the Georgia Legislative Black Caucus. During the same year, De'Andre was chosen as one of the first Digital Inclusion Fellows by Google, where he developed a curriculum for the City of Atlanta's Connect Home Initiative.
In addition to his professional and community engagements, De'Andre has held leadership positions in various educational institutions. He served as the President and CEO of the Governing Board for The Main Street Academy, Inc., a charter school within the Fulton County School District. As an advocate for over 900 students and 100 staff members, De'Andre ensured the school's fiscal health and academic standards were met. Also serving as the President of the Board of Directors for The RISE Schools, another public charter school in Fulton County. During his tenure as the Interim Superintendent, the schools achieved Blue Ribbon Status and secured significant funding through revenue and refunding bonds.
Recognized for his contributions, De'Andre was sworn in as a member of the Georgia Advisory to the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights in April 2020, currently serves as the Vice Chair, further exemplifying his dedication to promoting rights and equality.
