Dana Foglesong, MSW, RCSWI, NCPS, CRPS, has held national leadership positions in the private and nonprofit sector and within state government. Dana leads through the lens of her lived experience as mental health disrupted her high school career, led her to navigate multiple systems and acute care services, and resulted in a disability determination. She credits working with a certified peer specialist as opening the doors to recovery. She uses her lived experience and professional expertise to transform policy and practice, deliver data-driven innovation, and work for the meaningful inclusion of people served and their families in the design, implementation and evaluation of systems and service delivery practices. Her work has been instrumental in shaping federal and state policy and practice related to peer support including the development of the National Practice Guidelines for Peer Support Supervisors and the proposed standard occupational classification definition for peer support specialists.
Dana currently serves as the national senior director of recovery and resiliency services for Magellan Health. Prior to Magellan, Dana worked for the Florida Department of Children and Families in the Office of Substance Abuse and Mental Health and founded the statewide peer network in Florida. She currently serves as the immediate-past president of the National Association of Peer Supporters and previously served as an executive committee board member for the National Alliance on Mental Illness. Dana is a published author and co-author of peer and non-peer reviewed publications with a specific research interest in peer delivered and whole health approaches within integrated health settings. She is a nationally certified peer specialist and holds a master’s degree in social work from the University of Central Florida.
