This presentation includes our findings from a systematic review of K-12 school-based interventions to address racism in disciplinary practices. We look forward to discussing our findings, implications, and future directions with the attendees at NatCon24. Additionally, we are eager to discuss and receive feedback from attendees regarding how to translate these results into actionable and accessible training materials for diverse educational contexts (e.g., infographics, training videos, etc.).

Learning Objectives:

Summarize the research on the disproportionate discipline of students of color in K-12 settings, as well as the consequences, including the school-to-prison pipeline.
Evaluate the interventions in this review that work to address racial disparities in discipline, and assess interventions for strengths, weaknesses, and generalizability to other educational settings.
Translate this research into actionable and accessible recommendations for school personnel on how to reduce disproportionate discipline in their schools.
