MP30 - Bridging the Gap With Clinical Research by Establishing a Community of Practice for Community Mental Health Centers

A Community of Practice (CoP) is a group of individuals who share a common interest and come together to learn, share knowledge, and collaborate. The objective of our CoP is to help leverage the benefits of mental health clinical research to benefit community behavioral health centers (CBHCs). We believe this will:
1. Improve patient outcomes
2. Address health disparities.
3. Advance knowledge about mental illnesses.
4. Develop a new revenue stream.
Our poster will address each of the above points.

Learning Objectives:

  • Demonstrate how research can benefit the CMHC by: 1. Improving patient outcomes 2. Addressing health disparities. 3. Advancing knowledge about mental illnesses. 4. Developing a new revenue stream.
  • Identify a usable, flexible roadmap to introduce clinical research into the organization and educate the staff and stakeholders, addressing concerns for the prioritization of patients' wellbeing.
  • Discuss the various points of view of the COP members, which include National Council members, CMHC leaders, pharmaceutical leaders, and stakeholders.
