A2 - 988 & Beyond: Developing a Local Behavioral Health Crisis Continuum

The rollout of 988 has provided an impetus for the expansion of the crisis continuum. This session will feature presentations from SAMHSA and the National Association of County Behavioral Health and Disability Directors. It will provide an overview of 988 and SAMHSA’s vision for the crisis continuum with a special focus on rural communities. In this period of transformation in crisis care delivery, communities are facing challenges, but many unique struggles persist for rural communities. It will describe resources from both NACBHDD and SAMHSA including, but not limited to a description of a policy academy that was designed for local rural and remote communities to map and improve their crisis systems through strategic action planning.
