A1 - Black Women in Charge: Fostering Greater Racial and Gender Equity in Behavioral Health C-suite Positions

Black women’s experiences, specifically when discussing the esteemed C-suite, are often pushed to the side. Their pathway to success is often shaped by their willingness and drive to overcome barriers related to their racialized and gendered identities. This workshop will give voice to their experiences and provide successful strategies for Black women seeking C-suite positions. Finally, for those already working in this domain, the workshop will provide supportive tools that will enhance their experiences and decrease emotional strife due to their racialized identities.

Learning Objectives:

  • Discuss the experiences of Black and African American women in C-suite positions.
  • Examine strategies for Black and African American women to obtain and maintain C-suite positions.
  • Describe the role of stigma, racism and intersectionality in the hiring of Black and African American women for C-suite positions.
  • Examine strategies for Black and African-American women to obtain and maintain C-Suite positions
  • Identify supportive tools within your social and professional networks
